Beach and Around

Pathein - capital city of the delta region and the gateway to Ngwe Saung beach is the port city easily reached by road or by cruise through the complex Ayeyarwady river. Pathein, situated in the Ayeyarwady Delta about 190 km west of Yangon is well known by it production of unique parasol locally called "Pathein Hti". There is an elephant camp between Pathein and Ngwe Saung beach, which gives you an excellent opportunity to observe these mighty beasts as closed as their nature.

Ngwe Saung Beach (Combine with cruise)

The Delta region covers an area of 1000 square miles of waterways and wetlands and is one of the most complex river systems on the planet. There are seven main channels flowing down from the Ayeyarwady valley and from these several thousand creeks and lesser channels. The two main ports are Yangon, the present day capital, and Pathein, where the traditional umbrella and clay pot painting workshops are located and centre for the paddy producers in this area once known as the ‘rice basket of Asia’. In the Delta, profuse human activity mixes with a varied selection of wild life and bird life. People live on the river and there is constant activity. The Delta towns are attractive and humming with life and activity. The Delta area has only just opened to travelers and a cruise through its backwaters offers an insight into a lost world.
